Emerald City
(Feature Film - In Development)
Synopsis
"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you weird"
In the middle of the Nevada Desert, a lonely strip of two-lane highway cuts through the scrub brush and tumbleweeds. It leads to the remote outpost of Groome Lake, the seat of a county whose coyotes outnumber its human population, and whose biggest claim to fame is that it's the nearest settlement to a Super Secret Military Installation, which in spite of its Top Secret status is well known to everyone.
The first thing you see as you arrive in town is the A. Lee Inn Bar, Grill, Motel and Center for Extra-Terrestrial Knowledge, which is the defacto community center for the entire town.
This is the setting of Emerald City, where UFO enthusiasts rub elbows with conspiracy theorists and defense industry retirees, where the mayor is a former Hell's Angel, and the law is enforced by a lovesick sociopath. Emerald City is a bittersweet "grey comedy", similar in tone to films like "American Beauty", where the most humourous episodes might reveal a deep anguish, and a senseless tragedy might make you laugh out loud.
